Beginning my new adventure got me thinking about my journey through the makeup world and how far I have come. It has been such an inspiring time for me and has given me invaluable opportunities.
My journey began back in 2006 when I left sixth form and made a decision to join Hugh Baird College in Liverpool to study makeup artistry. It was here I met some of the most influential people who motivated me to work hard and aim high. College really opened my eyes to the career paths being a makeup artist could take me.
After studying for two years I decided to freelance and build up a clientele. I would take any work I could from weddings and proms to Halloween makeup. However my skills were really put into practice when I started working for the worlds leading cosmetic brand MAC. I joined the team in the free standing store in Liverpool and was just overwhelmed by the amount of talent in the store. In that environment you are really thrown in the deep end because anyone could walk in! MAC’s moto “All ages, All races, All sexes” means they accept anyone. So as you can imagine the experience I gained whilst working there is second to none. Being inspired constantly everyday by other artists and learning tips and tricks gave me the expertise I have which enables me to offer exceptional service and flawless application. I realised the importance of letting the clients personality and style show through when creating a tailor made look for them, and that each and every person is different from the last. This is why I love my job so much. So from here it only seemed the right thing to do was take my knowledge and create Rebecca Devin Destination Makeup. Having always wanted to move abroad I was given the perfect opportunity to combine making up beautiful brides with living a spanish, laid back lifestyle!
Hope you have enjoyed a small insight into my career journey.
